According to a study presented at the meeting of the European Society of Cardiology, taking the stairs in individuals with a sedentary life is associated with fitness, less body fat and trimmer waistlines.
Stair climbing also perks up aerobic exercise capacity and reduces the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases by improving lung capacity and reducing blood pressure and bad cholesterol levels.
Findings showed that climbing stairs every day instead of taking elevators and escalators can lower the risk of premature death by 15 percent.
